Inane screeds about random movies.
Die Hard [J. Matthew Movies, Ep. 15]
#DieHard (1988) changed action movies forever. Starring #FrankSinatra in his final film role, it introduced the genre of #Geriaction to moviegoers everywhere. Stars like Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson would take the genre to new heights in the 2010s, but how did it all begin?

David Prowse [J. Matthew Movies, Ep. 14]

R.I.P. David Prowse I've had this video ready for a few weeks, and had promised myself not to post it until I had a few more ready. Today's sad news has altered the deal. #DavidProwse was an icon. As a kid, his was the first "secret" name I learned from the closing credits (right before Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker). James Earl Jones is the unforgettable voice, but the way Vader carries hims...

Willow (1988) is more than just an 80s fantasy movie about swords and sorcery. It's also a subliminal feminist masterpiece. When I was researching to see if anyone had done this yet, I got the idea to include some of the actors' other credits from Oliver Harper's Willow Retrospective/Review: ua-cam.com/video/Z4P_e6sbtOI/v-deo.html It's a good video; and thorough. patreon.com/jmatthewturner inst...

The Pursuit of Happyness is the most American film of all time. Dude you rule , the theory of Daniel is the best 😂😂
You hit the karate kid Daniel bully theory on the head before Kobra kei came out
I remember going to see Wargames at the cinema in 1983 with my Mum and the girl next door (who I fancied in my 11-yrold, pull-her-pigtails, confused way). Loved it then, and thoroughly enjoyed your video. Cheers.
Today I randomly had the idea to start a page called "It's the Same Movie." I do a quick search as far as the concept, and OF COURSE I'm atleast a decade too late. That said, THANK YOU for doing this better than I could've ever dreamed! LOL INSTANTLY subscribed!
As I understand it, Alan Rickman was pissed afterwards when they let him go before 3.
why is bro so smart
This was my first chan movie and really my first true martial arts movie. I love it so much
The comments are off on your karate kid analysis, Daniel is the bad guy for sure!
Thank you for inspiring Cobra Kai with your old video from 2015
War Games is an excellent thriller but it is not the greatest film of all time. Able Archer 83 and the 1979 Norad incident might also be worth noting in regards to War Games.
There is one redeeming quality I can give about this remake that I actually would be so bold is on par with the original: Mr. Han’s arc. In contrast to Miyagi’s quippy and upbeat personality, Han is more awkward and moody. And they brilliantly tie it in with the tragic backstory: reinventing Miyagi's story losing his wife and son due to childbirth complications while he was serving in WWII, Han lost his wife and son when he got them in a car accident. This explains his gloomy and antisocial behavior, as he's plagued with guilt and contrition over inadvertently causing their deaths. And furthermore, this can actually justify the, "Interesting pole" line, as he’s not really trying to jab at and call out Dre’s lie. Because he's so haunted and broken inside, he just doesn't care that Dre is blatantly lying to him, and thus, he just shrugs it off, like, "Eh, whatever." I also like how this further leads to Dre helping him overcome his trauma as Han helps him prepare for the tournament. It’s not just master teaching student like in the original; here, they’re both learning from each other, helping each other overcome each other’s struggles and weaknesses, thus, making the dynamic between the two far more deeper and complex than Daniel and Miyagi. Mr. Miyagi’s backstory doesn’t really add much to his arc. I guess they were trying to convey that Daniel’s the closest thing to a son he’s ever had, but it's kind of executed vaguely. As much as I love Mr. Miyagi for his more confident and wise personality, Mr. Han is honestly a far more interesting character. I can’t say one is better than the other, but it’s definitely a close tie.
why didnt luke tell leia vader is our father?
hey wat about revenge of the nerds and why the nerds where actually right? lol!
ok ok not hitler.... but waht about stalin and all that f.....er.... western imperalists that actually for coincidence are all very... happy.... diserved what they got? lol!
waiting for ''the empire was right'' video..... you will do it rihgt? lol!
Daniel IS NOT THE BULLY JOHNNY IS
Daniel petty as hell with that 30+ year beef 😭
You didn't mention a space odyssey
OMG! Can’t believe I never saw this despite watching the movies dozens of times!🙈🤣
is he joking or not i can't tell
Just so I have my timeline correct, JMT's original video does predate the "Cobra Kai" series, no?
Yes, the original video dropped in 2015
Honestly the karate kid comments are turned off but I really think that video is solely responsible for creating cobra Kai that’s just awesome that you spawn that video I laughed my ass off every time I watch it it’s great
Andy should have realized just how toxic Mate's behavior was towards her, along with her so-called "friends"!!!! I said this before, and I will say it again, if were Andy, I would have quit my job, dumped my so called " friends", found a jib where I could shine immensely, and entered A relationship with a man who supports me, treats me love, and respect!!!!
This guy got mad that people were insulting him in his video? He literally made a joke that he knew was incorrect. Obviously people are gonna do that. Isn’t the point of a joke to get that kind of reaction? Lmao.
Hey what's up man just noticed you haven't made any new uploads in a while just wanted to give you a shout-out make sure you're good and hopefully we'll see some more from you soon I especially was always a fan of these videos about the karate kid
You Hate Nate 😂😂😂
Why the comment section of the Karate Kid video is closed?
That’s what I’m wondering
I knew I didn't like Nate or the friends when Nate had a sulk about Andy missing his birthday because she had to work and the friends when, after bringing them all nice gifts, they play keep away with her phone when they know how strict her boss is. Christian isn't a good guy either though. He's condescending and egomaniacal.
The 2010 movie was only made so Will Smith could put his no skill kid into it. So his wife doesn't make Will suck her Boyfriends jingy. Cuckold Will Smith!
I just don't buy it.
I think you should take down your video or I'm going to report it to UA-cam
Get a life
Ok lil bro lol
I think you're the one that was lying about a whole bunch of s*** you made. Daniel larusso out to be some sort of monster when he really wasn't. It was Johnny. That was the monster and the bully and karate kid. You can have your own opinions but keep them to yourself because you wrong and you're disgusting. Don't spread false information about people and don't call people prick. You are one
Never EVER EVER in my life I've met a person who'd be just as pissed as Nate if someone couldn't attend their birthday because of work. Like i remember being 15 and we had some exam at school exactly on my birthday so i knew that everyone would be too stressed out to attend my party including me. So i said: "hey my birthday is on Thursday but let's meet at the weekend so everyone is in the mood?" and everyone thought the same. WHY 15YO ME DIDN'T CONSIDER IT A BIG DEAL BUT A GROWN ASS MAN DID👁👁 usually when you're 21+ you're happy when someone at least remembers about your birthday at all
My man's a narcissist. Only explanation. Gives her the prize at the end of letting her follow him to Boston. Absolutely toxic and I hate him so much.
I always hated TAB. yuck, Never understood how anyone liked it but each to their own. BTW I don't know what world everyone else lived in but I never even saw a computer until I was a young adult and was working for an agency cleaning somewhat well-to-do families. I went into the house, was awestruck by the lady right away as she was very tall, pretty and well dressed. She gave me instructions and left. I was blown away.. #1 she trusted me to be there alone #2 her "office had a big desk with a computer on it and she had big book cases and a sort of trophy wall and one pic was of her accepting an award on a stage. I was SO impressed! Blew me away and I was just in love with the idea that some day I could be like her. She was a very nice person as well which was sort of a shock for someone of "means" at that level. She had a large conversation style couch dark blue with white and very nice material (velvety) and I hand cleaned every square inch of it. I even remember how nice it smelled in that house. Anyway, she almost certainly had a Macintosh. I would love to go back to those early years but we can't go back.
Sounds like you missed a golden opportunity to play some Oregon Trail. :)
You said "let me know in the comments" on the karate.Kid video and comments were turned off. What is up with that?
I honestly don't know. The comments on that particular video are a bit of a mess, and I definitely disowned them a long time ago -- stopped replying entirely. I guess I must have turned them off at some point. (I did a comment response video for Karate Kid, in case you want to know what I mean by "a mess.") ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Is Iron Man in the wrong in the first movie?
The WarGames story always fascinated me, even though I was too young when it was new to understand it. (I was 3 years old when it came out and 5 when I first remember seeing it on TV.) Afterward, I grew into the story. I related to how the game-playing fever and the fear of nuclear war were completely respective but were successfully interwoven in this context. I think that Tab jingle was included in What’s Love Got to Do With It, in the scene when the Tina Turner character is minutes away from making her brake. Furthermore, I remember drinking it a few times in my youth. Can’t remember how it tasted, and I was tempted to get a 12-pack when I lived alone so I could remind myself. Wasn’t too keen on getting a 12-pack of something I wasn’t sure I wasn’t going to have than more than one of, however. Straight up, now tell me. Should I just settle for drinking Coke Zero? P. S. The Commodore 64-style interpretation of John Williams’ Star Wars Episode I score is a killer find.
The 8 bit music at the end was done by a friend of mine. I was just trying to help is channel, but yeah, I thought it fit. :) Glad you liked it and thanks for commenting!
Also Tyler has same desperate laugh as the narrator
Does he? Or is that just Brad Pitt being Brad Pitt?
The original movie is better.
Mos def.
Maybe he got the computer in lieu of a new car like in Feris Beullers Day Off?
Ha! That's great. I totally missed a joke there.
Lmao. Peeeeuuuupppple. A. UA-cam is an entertainment platform. UA-cam and Google even say so in their description. B. Even if Daniel is the real bully happened in a bar and not UA-cam…people have the right to formulate whatever view or opinion they want about a movie or content…meaning that this UA-camr has all the right in the world to believe Johnny is the good guy. Just like to me Million dollar man was the real American..not hulk hogan. It’s my opinion atleast and I’m sticking to it. C. I think we all agree that 80s featured too much one way ness and cobra Kai and its diverse presentations where both sides could be both good and bad was awesome. So in closing the author is not entirely wrong about karate kid and I a 44yr old can see he obviously grew up in the 80s and 90s and it was the cool norm to switch the narrative. I like darth better than Luke, I liked Draco better than rocky, there way so many one way signs that guys like me and the author above too was like ahh fuck the script we are going this way. And it’s a good quality to have when applied properly. And let’s face it. Johnny had the swag and was easier to like..even in cobra Kai. Even the real life nerd crowd has more muscle than scrawny larusso. He is the weird kid that looked like my #2 sharpie pencil gave birth to Daniel. He was more likable and relatable in cobra Kai. Weirdo.
Really? I think Daniel in Cobra Kai is an insufferable twat. I'm in season 4, and I don't even think they're playing both sides anymore -- Johnny is just the hero now.
When I was a kid I noticed straight away that the Asian kid in the wheel chair playing his Sega Game Gear had no game in the cartridge slot.
Nate and the friends were all jealous of her fabulous success and the fact she is going to Paris fashion week!
100%
"wantonly slaughtering"....😂
The female friend had no problem taking a freebie $1900 designer bag. What a user.
Her female friend acts like Andy had already had an affair with Christian.
There must be a term for when the plot needs the audience to feel a certain way, so the movie puts words in a character's mouth that make no sense coming from that character. I mean, what friend would actually respond that way? Totally bizarre.
Nate was just a typical boyfriend and that kind of is great. it was relateable. a movie where the protagonist doesn't have everything going for her
Her friend didnt mind taking the expensive handbag, that came only because she works in a fashion industry, howverr was quick to call her a glamazon and judge her because a guy kissed her cheek. Plus she was so disappointed in her going to Paris, when infact an opportunity like that is something to celebrate. She really peed me off
I actually hate when she calls him up to tell him she's going to quit, and he's on the phone smiling saying "good for you", rather than telling her to maybe try harder. He even turns up in the evening to celebrate her unemployment and was disappointed to know she actually successfully completely the task given by miranda and decided to not quit.
YES
Dre had landed his sucker punch in the reboot, and he had two chances before Cheng pushed him into the floor.
I didn't realize this when I made the video, but it turns out there are two different edits of the movie -- American/western market and Asian market. In the one I watched (western), Dre landing the sucker punch is removed. I have since watched that full scene on UA-cam, and it is indeed better in the Asian edit.
But Martha doesn't exist neither, right?
I have heard this theory, but I don't buy it.
@@JMatthewTurner Why doesn't anyone interact with her except for the protagonist?
@@eueu4854 Homeboy at the support group seems awful interested in her. Narrator never even sees him, so it can't be his imagination. Also, when Marla is selling some clothes, the clerk looks at each of them separately.
